Information

Alan J Clarke, also known as AJ Clarke, transforms reclaimed industrial materials through abrasion, oil and acrylic paints and metalwork, creating art that carries a sense of history and change. His work balances decay and refinement, where worn surfaces, subtle colour and hand-worked elements come together as quietly powerful, timeless, objects.

AFTERGLOW

800 X 1300, oil and acrylic on board.

Initially inspired by watching a fireworks display over Nelson Harbour, with colourful reflections shimmering in the dark waters.

OBSCURA

400 X 900, copper disc, oil and acrylic on board.

The working title was "requiem for a dying planet," but that sounded a bit gloomy.
